Ten Crazy Beauty Tips That Work

There are thousands of crazy beauty tips out there that claim to work on whatever problem you have. Problem is, they don’t always work successfully and you just end up wasting your time and money. Here, I’ve compiled a list of crazy beauty tips that actually work. How do I know they work? Well, I’ve tried them!

Powder Your Roots

If your hairline starts to look greasy, dig up a big, fluffy makeup brush, and dip it into a pot of loose powder. Tap it once on the back of your hand to remove excess, then dust it over your roots. It mops up oil and blends into your strands, so no one will know you didn’t shower!

Spot-Treat Smudges

Dip a cotton swab into eye-makeup remover, and trace it along your lids to erase any slipups or goofs when there’s no time to redo your whole look!

Fix a Flushed Face

If you turn red and stay that way after exercising, take an antihistamine like Benadryl when you leave the gym to reduce redness. Works like a charm!

Use Makeup Remover on Stubborn Lipstick

Don’t try to rub off red lipstick (which makes it smear across your mouth-not hot!). Instead, take a cotton ball or tissue, dip it in makeup remover, and just dab to erase the dark stain fast!

Tame Your Eyebrows with Eye Cream

Pat any kind of rich eye cream over brows to help keep them hydrated and banish those icky white specks that look like dandruff.

Brush on Hair Spray

For the final step of your blow-dry, spray hair spray onto your brush, and run it through your strands from roots to tips. This way, your do isn’t so plastered and stiff but still holds volume and shine!

Cure a Cold Sore With Cream

When a cold sore is coming on, dab a bit of thick moisturizer, like Aquaphor, over it to prevent it from getting worse.

Use Toothpaste on a Zit

Use just a pea-size amount. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the oil so the pimple won’t get more clogged, then wash it off!

Use Soap Without Water

You know those fancy bars that are actually too pretty to use? Toss them in your underwear or tee-shirt drawers to make your skin smell extra delicious!

Press a Tea Bag on Splotches

If your skin is sensitive or just looking irritated and puffy for whatever reason, steep a bag of green tea for a minute or two, let it cool down, and bad it over your face. The antioxidants in the tea take down inflammation.

Very nice website. I wish you all the best! Take Care

Love these tips. My fave is powdering roots. What a great idea. My roots start showing 2 or 3 weeks after I color my hair, and this is the perfect way to be able to put off touching up. Thanks!

The powder-your-roots thing is actually for when you must go another day without showering, not for hiding root color! It absorbs the oil and makes your hair appear bit cleaner.

I’ve been using the powder-your-root tricks for years, lol.

It is truly a crazy list. If I hadn’t had used some of the things on this list, I’d be skeptical of a lot of them! But the ones I’ve tried have worked.

I don’t really get the powder your roots one. When would it be important enough for me to hide my roots, but not important enough to shower first? =/

  7. sarah February 23, 2008 at 2:22 am ·

awesome tips thanks i will try a couple new things like my bangs get oily the very same day so i will try the powder your roots thing fo sho! p.s. i don’t know why that’s confusing people lol

  8. jen February 23, 2008 at 1:24 pm ·

i think the powder-your-roots thing is more for when you arent able to get a shower. like if your away from home and a shower just isnt in your immediate future. it doesnt hide your roots at all, the powder just absorbs the excess oil in your hair so you dont look skanky for the day.

Umm, I wouldn’t take Benadryl just bc your face is red. It is a drug. Just not good to take unless you really need it.

  10. BeautyhHealthZoneBlog February 27, 2008 at 12:09 am ·

Did you know that adding garlic to your diet will send a cold sore away….FAST!

  11. Tiffany February 27, 2008 at 6:58 am ·

Agreed on the Benadryl thing… you shouldn’t take it just because of a red face.

well all im lookin for is how to clear zits, like acnie stuff, but all is says isto put toothpaste on it. does it really get rid of zits? oh and do oyu do it everynight? or just once?!!!:P

  16. Aniela April 22, 2008 at 1:03 pm ·

Well the toothpaste trick is usually for emergencies. Say you have a big night coming up and you spot a pimple the night before…just dab a little bit of white toothpaste onto it, and sleep on it. The pimple should subside by the morning. It does not work on acne prone skin…it’s just a one-pimple at a time treatment.

Hey, I knew the toothpaste all this time, but I found out I was using it wrong! >.

  20. Shawn July 10, 2008 at 7:36 am ·

Wouldn’t the whole soap without water in fact make your clothes all greasy feeling?

  21. iain mckellar August 1, 2008 at 12:18 pm ·

bathing in freshly cut seaweed is pure natural organic skin & hair care

  22. Ana August 24, 2008 at 4:49 pm ·

The toothpaste trick… I say leave it on for just the 15 minutes.

I tries this once and i had an above average break out when i used it. I made the mistake of leaving it on overnight. Instead of getting rid of the pimples it left extremely noticeable red blotches all over my face that didn’t go away for about a week.

the tips are great but i hate applying things that have horrible ingredients for you. Like sodium laureth sulfate, that stuff is in shampoo’s, toothpaste, and most cosmetics and pretty much anything that you can’t pronounce on the ingredient isn’t good for you. Trust me when I say your hair will look way better when you don’t shampoo everyday and use stuff like olive oil(on another page for directions)

    Suggestoin:
mabye you could try putting the soap in one of those little chewl (see thru) gift bags, or a fine fabric tied with ribbon, to stop any soap getting on your clothes.

I just wanted to say that I actually have used powder to cover my roots. I was very light blond, with darker blond roots. I found an eyeshadow that was a matching blond, and used a puff with that. It was sweet. My other crazy tip, if your getting all dolled up, and wearing a dress, mix a bit of foundation with some lotion, and put it all over your legs and ankles and feet, coveres small veins, pores, scars. Makes you look perfect, without panty hoes. Good for strappy shoes. :P

I just wanted to say about malissa’s comment, you can hide dark circles by using the oposite color. Usually your undereye is a purple bluish gray tint, the oposite colour, yellowy orange. They make products for this perpose, a green one for red spots, and a yellowish one for undereyes.

really tothpaste I will have to try it(: but why use the benadryl when ever I get real red it’s after I work out and I take a shower after that because you sweat : /

  28. Breanna February 2, 2009 at 4:21 pm ·

Omg ! I cant wait to try all of these great products!
But i have a question !! I have a small Z.I.T right below my eye, and no matter what products i put on it, no matter what i do to try to make it go away, It WONT WORK ! I never get results from anything !! Iv’e even tried proactive, the wave, noxema, and that apricote scrub ! Someone please help me ! I AM DEALING WITH A MIDLIFE CRISIS!!!!!

  29. Aniela February 2, 2009 at 5:09 pm ·

Breanna, is this a recurring pimple below your eye? If so, how long has this been going on? I would suggest talking to a dermatologist if it is a type of cyst (those really deep, bumpy pimples that don’t go away).

  30. k_troops March 7, 2009 at 2:09 am ·

bubblyboo2334, the benadryl that she is referring to is NOT a cream. it’s the medicine taken to treat allergic reactions (hence the antihistamine mention).
so, yeah, i WOULD agree with everyone else… don’t just take this because you have a red face! :/

oh and about the powder-on-roots. what about those of us that have dark hair? what kind/colour of powder do you recommend?

i think all these ideas are realy good i knew about the tooth paste but none of the others. it is also realy usefull for my beauty blog!!!!1

  33. blonde December 4, 2011 at 7:32 pm ·

You really want to leave the toothpaste on all night so when you wake up its completely gone. Although, you should use white toothpaste because the blue or red kind has dyes in them which irritate certain skin types, such as dry ones.
