Everybody struggles with bad hair days at one time or another, but there are ways to stop all that. Instead of wasting your money on products that might not even work, why not try some  remedies for your hair in the comfort of your own home? Here are a few full-proof hair remedies to help you get rid of all your pesky hair problems.

At-Home Hair Remedies

Ban Dandruffdark hair

There is nothing better for dandruff hair than the antiseptic properties of thyme. Thyme fights the bacteria that causes flakes so this recipe is just the thing to get you back into black clothes again.

What You Need:

  • 7 tablespoons of dried thyme
  • 2 cups of water

Directions Boil the dried thyme with the two cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain the thyme out and apply water to clean, damp hair until hair is completely soaked. No need to rinse.

Ban Dry Hairsoft hair

Bananas aren't only there to be eaten; they're also an excellent agent to help with dry hair. Try this delicious concoction right at home.

What You Need

  • 1 banana (potassium softens hair shaft)
  • 1 egg (natural moisturizer)
  • 3 tablespoons of honey (natural moisturizer)
  • 3 tablespoons of milk (strengthens hair follicles)
  • 5 tablespoons of olive oil (deep conditioner)

Directions: Mash the banana, egg, honey, milk and olive oil in a bowl. Make sure it's well-combined. Then apply to hair. Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse off with a gentle shampoo.

Ban Oily Hairshiny hair

Oily hair can be a big problem but use this mask once a week and your hair will feel super smooth and shiny.

What You Need

  • 5 tablespoons of plain yogurt (moisturizes without oils)
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda (absorbs oils on your scalp)
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice (absorb oils on your scalp)

Directions
Mix yogurt, baking soda and fresh lemon juice in a bowl. Apply mask to hair, specifically concentrating on the roots. Leave in for 40 minutes, then rinse with water. Use the mask once a week to control your oily locks.

Ban Dull Hairnatural hair

There is nothing worse than walking around with dull, lifeless hair. Strawberries help get your hair back to its natural shine.

What You Need

  • 8 strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise (natural deep conditioner)

Directions
Mash strawberries and mayonnaise with a fork until completely blended. Apply mask to damp, clean hair; then cover your head with a shower cap. Apply a warm towel (throw one in the dryer while making your hair mask to warm it up) over the shower cap. The heat will allow the mask to penetrate your hair shaft. Rinse with shampoo and conditioner.

Ban Build-Upshiny hair

If you tend to use a lot of hair products, your strands will start to feel heavy, lifeless and dull. Ban hair build-up with this alcoholic moisturizing mask.

What You Need

  • 2 tablespoons of vodka (removes oils and buildup on the scalp)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (moisturizer)
  • 1/2 ripe avocado (moisturizer)
  • 1 egg yolk (conditions scalp and hair shaft)

Directions
Whisk vodka, honey, avocado and egg yolk until creamy. Apply mixture to washed, damp hair. Leave mask on for 30 minutes and rinse with warm water. Shampoo, condition and style hair as usual.
