How to Dress for Success

  • Weather you’re going to an interview, work at an office, or just want to look professional, there are always some ground rules you need to remember when trying to dress for success. Dressing for success means looking professional, serious, but at the same time, have great taste and style. Just because you work in an office, doesn’t mean you have to wear a black suit all the time. You can have fun with your office attire while at the same time looking professional.

Too much skin in this kind of environment is never a good thing. You’re there to succeed in whatever you’re doing, not look like a star. So, act like it. Your attire says a lot about you, so be very conscious about what you wear to work. Make sure you don’t show too much cleavage; just a hint is enough if you really have to. Skirts should be always longer than you arms. Stand up straight with your arms against your sides to get an idea.

Always wear pantyhose and stay away from open toed shoes (in most cases). It doesn’t look professional. You can also incorporate color into your wardrobe weather it’s a blue, red, pink, or yellow top under your blazer. A matching blazer and skirt with a pair of heels is not only professional, but looks great at the same time.

Mix up your outfit by accessorizing, but make sure you keep it to a minimum. A big necklace or a string or pearls should be enough for accessories.

Also, long feminine skirts are great for certain work places. They add flare and a little bit of fun to your attire, so don’t be afraid to experiment. The main thing to keep in mind though when dressing for success is to not over do it, and to keep it simple.

  1. Hi Aniela . . this is my first comment and I hope it’s not my last . . . just wondering when you’re going to start posting special posts on fashion tips for guys

  2. Hi Gary, thanks for visiting! Well, at this point, it might not be for a little bit just because I’m trying to gear the site towards women (and I don’t know anything about men’s fashions, no joke lol). But hopefully soon!
