As you’ve probably noticed, salon hair, is the best hair. You always try to get that same look, but somehow get left behind. Professional hair stylists often use a term called “over direction” which means that as you dry each section, you pull the brush in the opposite direction you want it to fall. Don’t worry, it’s the easiest thing to pull off, and you’ll have unbelievable volume.
When you pull the brush the opposite way, it loops up and over, giving it the desired height and body. Start off with the basics by using a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Purchase a good root lift product and apply it directly to your roots. Let your hair air dry about 80% of the way.
Start off at the nape of your neck and gather a 5cm piece of hair. Section that area with a pin. Draw your brush over the surface of the section from roots to ends, directing the hair up and against the direction you want it to fall in. Wind your hair around the brush
back towards the scalp (insuring the ends are not bent). Unwind your brush so that you leave about 5cm of your hair to be dried.
Get a good hairdryer with a nozzle attached to it and dry your hair with the direction of the airflow going onto the ends. Make sure you keep your drier about 3-5cm away from your hair. Once you’ve finished blow-drying, insert velcro rollers into the sections .
After you’ve put all of your hair in the rollers and it has dried, apply a little bit of hair spray and remove each roller carefully. Gently tousle your hair with your fingers and apply an aerosol hair spray. Your hair will have unbelievable volume, height, and bounce!
