If you’ve ever suffered from acne, you know that the toughest part is getting rid of the scarring. For some people, the scarring can last a lifetime (depending on the severity of the acne), but there ARE ways you can minimize the scarring and even get rid of it completely. Yes, there are a ton of acne scar minimizers on the shelves, but they can cost a lot of money, and not all of them will work for you. So before you shell out the big bucks on something that might not even work for your skin type, why not try a DIY mask that I guarantee will give you results?
I’ve suffered from acne ever since I was a teenager, and just now (at 26) my acne has finally decided to pack its bags and go back to wherever it came from. Unfortunately, it has left me with a few reminders on my skin that I just cannot get rid of. I’ve tried a few products like Bio Oil, which is supposed to be great for scarring, but that only made me break out. Finally, a friend of mine suggested this DIY mask that she swore by! Not only is this mask perfect for sensitive skin, but it really does make a huge difference.
Put this mask on once or twice a week, and within the first few uses, you’ll see a noticeable difference in your skin.

There’s nothing funner than making your own homemade beauty concoctions. They’re fun, easy to make, and best of all, save you a ton of money! One of my favorite things to make at home are hair masks, and this particular recipe is targeted towards dry hair. It leaves your hair super soft and silky so give it a try, you’ll love it!
1/2 a banana
1 tbsp wheat germ oil
1 tbsp yogurt
1 vitamin E capsule
Blend the banana, avocado, cantaloupe, wheat germ oil, and yogurt.
Add the vitamin E capsule.
Mix all of the ingredients until they are well blended.
Massage mixture into your hair until it is well coated.
Leave in for 15 minutes.
Your hair should be extremely soft and well conditioned.
There are literally hundreds of different homemade face masks, especially online, so it can definitely be a little daunting when it comes to choosing the right one. Well I did the work for you and found what I think is the best face mask for ALL skin types (we’ll start off like that and go from there!). I chose this mask because it contains all of the necessary vitamins and ingredients that a mask should contain: energy, vitamins, and membrane components.
HEAVY CREAM MASK FOR ALL SKIN TYPES
1 tablespoon heavy cream
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon baking soda
Mix baking soda and cream together until it reaches the consistency of shaving cream. Then, add the honey. Spread the mixture over your face and neck and leave on for 20 minutes. Wash off with warm water or a warm washcloth.
Since I’ve found this recipe, I’ve used this mask twice already and I found that it left my skin extremely soft and clean. It got rid of all of the dirt and impurities as well as moisturized the skin. All in all, I absolutely LOVE this mask because….
It’s extremely easy to make…and will take you no more than 1 minute to mix everything together!
It works very well and has quick results since it contains medium chain fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
It smells good and leaves your face as smooth as a baby’s bum!
Not getting enough sleep? Your eyes can definitely tell! Dark under eye circles are as annoying as can be, and applying concealer each and ever single morning can take a lot of your time. Instead of dishing out for an expensive eye cream, why not make your own at home?
I’ve used this homemade mask for dark circles for years now and it has made such a difference on my eyes! My dark circles are almost non-existent (except for those few days when I don’t get enough sleep!), and it’s all thanks to this homemade dark circle mask. All you need is a few ingredients and you’ve got a professional under-eye mask for dirt cheap. Here’s how to do it!
1 tablespoon almond oil
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon wheat germ oil
30 drops Nigella oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
2 tablespoons Horse Chestnut (Buckeye)
Take all ingredients and throw them in a mixer. Mix well until it forms a paste. Apply the cream under your eyes and leave on for 30 minutes. For a super refreshing twist, refrigerate your paste first and then apply. Use this cream every day or every other day and start seeing results within just a week.
There’s nothing more satisfying than whipping up your very own batch of acne-fighting solution for dirt cheap! Acne masks and creams can cost you a ton, but there are so many cheap and natural ingredients out there, that you can always find a better, cheaper solution. This strawberry mask is great for acne-prone skin since strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid.
1/4 cup fresh strawberries
1/4 cup plain, non-flavored yogurt or sour cream
In a medium-sized bowl, mash strawberries until they become a thick paste.
Add the yogurt or sour cream to the mash-up.
Apply the mixture to your face and neck and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
Using a warm, damp washcloth, remove the mask.
Easy peasy, that’s all there is to it! To help fight troublesome acne, use this mask once or twice a week and don’t forget to moisturize afterwards.
Oily skin is a big problem during the hot summer months, which can lead to breakouts,so you need to know how to get rid of it efficiently. In addition to carrying oil-absorbing sheets with you, you should also pamper your face with a homemade mask once a week that’s guaranteed to rid your complexion of oil. Here is one of my favorite homemade masks for oily skin…works like a charm!
1 ripe banana
1 tbsp honey
1 orange or lemon
In a bowl, mash the banana until it forms a paste and add the honey. Mix well. Add a few drops of juice from an orange or lemon to the paste and mix well again.
Apply the mask to the face and neck and leave on for about 15 minutes. Remove with a steaming warm washcloth and you’re done!
I love this recipe because it’s super easy, you don’t need a lot of ingredients and it works better than most store bought masks which can be a little expensive sometimes. And trust me, your skin will thank you for this!
Mango mud masks can get quite expensive at a spa, but all you need is a few ingredients and you can make your very own mango mud mask at home. Mango is an excellent skin saver as it contains beta-carotene which your body then transforms in vitamin A. And, if you didn’t know, vitamin A is a must-have for perfect skin. So here’s how to make your very own at-home mango mud mask!
What You’ll Need:
2 tablespoons fresh mango
2 tablespoons almonds
2 tablespoons oatmeal
heavy whipping cream
In a food processor, mix together almonds and oatmeal until fine. Peel the mango, cut it into half and save the other half. Cut one half of the mango into 4 pieces and add to the food processor mixing until smooth.
Add the heavy whipping cream to the food processor and mix again for about a minute or until smooth.
Now your mango mud mask is done! Just apply to a clean face and let sit for 15 minutes until dry. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Save the rest of the mask in an airtight container in the fridge.
If you suffer from not-so-perfect skin (like moi!) you probably know the hardships you go through to get your skin looking presentable. Especially if you’ve ever suffered from acne, you know that the aftermath only leaves you with red, blotchy, uneven skin that can put a huge damper on your complexion.
Well, as I was a little bored last night I decided to whip up a homemade mask and I was looking particularly for something that would fix blotchy, uneven skin. And…I think I’ve found a new favorite! It’s easy, doesn’t require much and it WORKS!
1 egg white
juice from half a lemon
Beat egg white and squeeze the juice from half a lemon. Mix well.
Apply to cleansed face and neck.
Leave on for 15 minutes or even overnight.
Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
I left mine on overnight just so I could see the full effects and I definitely saw an improvement the next morning. This recipe is great for blotchy skin because the lemon juice works as a bleaching agent so the redness subsides quickly.
