How to Wear Blue Eyeshadow
-
Blue eyeshadow is one of the hardest makeup colors to pull off because it’s bright, prominent, and very noticeable. Unfortunately, not everyone can get away with it. Colors like brown and beige, are easier to wear and complement all women of all skin types, but blue can be a little tricky to wear, so follow these tips on how to wear blue eyeshadow.
Blue eyeshadow looks best on fair skin and dark hair accompanied by brown eyes, but dark skinned girls can get away with it as well as those with blond hair and blue eyes. Redheads should stay away from blue.
The most important rule when wearing blue eyeshadow is to blend. Don’t use old brushes, but invest in betters ones because it will make a difference. Try wearing dark blue eyeshadow close to the lids, and a lighter blue shade farther away from the lids. Don’t forget to blend well.
When wearing blue eyeshadow, be sure not to apply the bright color all the way to the brow bone, it will look tacky and too prominent. Instead, use a pale color all over your lids, and a darker color up to your crease.
Use blue eyeliner instead of black, as it can draw away from the actual look you’re trying to pull off. A navy or indigo colored eyeliner works best, and blue eyeliner makes blue eyes completely pop.
If you decide to go with blue eyeliner, make sure you keep the rest of your makeup simple. That means no strong colors on the lips, just something neutral.
Lastly, don’t try to match your shadow to your clothes because it’s overwhelming and no one does that anymore, it’s just too much.

Dont EVER put blue eyeshadow all the way up to the brow bone- light or not. Instead, opt for a light white or cream as a highlight. I have tan skin and dark brown hair, and I LOVE wearing blue eyeshadow! It always looks great and compliments my light brown eyes beautifully. Remember, DO NOT put blue eyeshadow all the way up to the brows- you will end up looking a little Vegas. Also, try Clinique’s All About Eyes cream. It will keep your eye makeup on all day, and it moisturizes as well. As for the eyeliner, blue does look great on top but black looks good in the inner rims. Also, line under the bottomlashline with blue as well. This really makes your eyes pop! Finish with a little bronzer, and your good to go!
