This season, it’s all about darker nail polish hues, and blue is at the top of the list along with some classic colors such as red and deep purple. Navy blues as well as midnight blues are very popular this season and they go great with any white or navy outfit.
Although blue nail polishes will make your nails seem a little shorter, you can file your nails to give off the impression of longer, more polished nails. File your nails so that the sides are square and the tip is more rounded. This will give your nails a cleaner, more polished look.
If you don’t feel comfortable with such a dark color, go for something lighter. As I’ve mentioned before, I absolutely love OPI Nail Colors, they are simply the best as they have the biggest and coolest selection of nail polishes. This hue from OPI is called Sapphire and it is absolutely gorgeous. Not too dark, yet not too light and with just the right amount of sparkle.

I’ve been searching for the name of the designer who started the trend in dark blue nail polish around May,2010. I’d like to purchase her product but can’t locate a place to do so.
Can you help?
In advance, thank you for your time and trouble
Yours truly,
Diane
Hi Diane,
Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure who started the trend and when…but I do know that blue nail polish was also popular a few years back so it’s actually a recurring trend. But Sally Hansen and OPI have some really nice blue hues. I especially like Sally Hansen’s HD color in blue and OPI’s Absolutely Alice from their Alice in Wonderland collection which is a very sparkly blue. But if you’re going for a more subdued hue, OPI’s Blue My Mind is also really pretty. Hope this helps!
