Hangnails are tiny pieces of skin that are still attached to the base or the side of the nail and here is how to prevent them. They are usually caused by dried cuticles, so follow these simple steps on how to prevent hangnails.

1. Don’t pick at the cuticles. Leave them alone, as it will only cause more pain as well as discomfort.

2. Start using a cuticle oil/cream and massage it on a regular basis around your cuticles. This will help keep your cuticles moisturized and supple.

3. When you see a hang nail, don’t even dare to bit it off. Instead, carry a pair of manicuring scissors with you and snip it off. It will save you a lot of trouble later on.

4. To get even more work done as you sleep, apply a moisturizing lip balm or even Vaseline around the cuticles to help soften them up. You can also use Petroleum Jelly as the fat penetrates the layers of skin while the jelly forms a film which prevents the air from drying out the skin.

5. Lastly, use you always use Vitamin E oils for your cuticles. They’re almost like magic!hands-and-feet.jpg
