For rosier, fuller lips, look no further than your own lips! We all know of the surgical and chemical methods to luscious lips but more than often, these methods have proven to be harmful to our well being and terribly expensive. This DIY lip plumping lip balm will give you fuller, plumper lips. When you use a ‘lip plumper' to naturally make your lips look more desirable, whats really happening is a slight irritation and concentration of blood which makes the skin look pinker and swollen. This can be induced and controlled by a mixture of spices and oils, mixed together and cooled. Not only is this super simple, it can be made with things commonly found in our own homes.
DIY Lip Plumping Lip Balm
For this lip balm, you can use a wide variety of ingredients so first, pick your base. This can be any carrier oil that helps bring nourishment and moisture to the area. Some examples are:
- Shea Butter
- Coco Butter
- Almond Oil
- Vitamin E Oil
You will then have to pick an activating ingredient. This is the part of the solution that will give the slight irritation and brings more color and shape to the lips. Some of the most popular are:
- Cayenne Powder
- Cinnamon powder or oil
- Peppermint oil
- Frankincense
- Tea Tree oil
- Ginger powder
Some of these ingredients may be more irritating to some than to others so please make sure to patch test before applying to lips. You can add as much or as little as you want for your level of sensitivity.
Directions:
To make the lip plumping lip balm, you just need to:
- First, heat up some water in a pot (don't let it boil) and put a small mixing bowl in the pot.
- While over the heat, put in 2 tablespoons of your desired base(s). Try not to mix more than 2 as this can cause it to clump up.
- Next, add in your desired amount of the active ingredient(s). You can easily add a few to this for lots of different smells and results but always be sure you aren't allergic to any of the combinations by first testing it in small quantities.
- After a thorough mix, you can pour the melted lip balm into a small container or re-used lip balm stick and set it in the fridge to cool.
In only a few minutes you can have your own lip plumper at less than half the cost.
