By Aniela / June 24, 2017

For anyone with oily hair and scalp, you know what a pain that can be! Oily hair and scalp is caused by an over-production of sebum and that's mostly attributed to genetics, so there is no way to reverse that. Thankfully, there are ways you can control an oily scalp and hair with this super simple DIY oily scalp shampoo. This shampoo only contains three all natural ingredients that work together to target the production of oil on the scalp, and over time, oil production will be cute back to about half.

DIY Oily Scalp Shampoo Recipe

baking soda

Benefits:

This DIY oily scalp shampoo uses only baking soda, vinegar, and water.

Baking soda helps with the over-production of sebum by targeting the scalp. Over time, baking soda deeply cleanses the scalp and oil production is reduced. Baking soda is also often used in shampoo recipes because it's all natural and also exfoliates an oily scalp.

Vinegar is often used in hair rinses because it imparts a ton of shine, gets rid of dirt, and also detoxifies.

Use this shampoo twice a week to reduce oil production, cleanse hair and scalp, and get the shiniest, softest hair you've ever had!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water

  1. In a medium sized bowl, mix all ingredients together and pour over hair.
  2. Gently, and in slow, circular motions, wash your hair as you normally would.
  3. Be aware that this shampoo will not lather up, as it does not contain any soap, BUT it will still cleanse hair better than any store bought shampoo.
  4. Rinse the shampoo and follow up with a vinegar rinse or conditioner.

Use twice a week to reduce oil production and add shine to dry, dull locks.
