DIY Armpit Detox and Why You Should Do It

By Aniela / July 25, 2017

You've no doubt heard of detoxing your armpits in the past year, but do you know why you should actually do it? Think about how long you've been using commercial deodorants…5 years, 10 years, 30 years? However long you've been using deodorants, you've been basically applying a bunch of chemicals to a very sensitive area of your body. Even worse, commercial deodorants have also been link to cancer. The main ingredient in commercial deodorants is aluminium salts which dissolve into your skin's surface, basically making a barrier which blocks odors and sweat. Over time, this ingredient can cause a multitude of skin issues, but most importantly, it doesn't allow the skin to breathe.

Switching to a natural deodorant is a great idea, BUT before you can do that, you absolutely must detox your armpits. If you don't, you're just applying a natural deodorant over that barrier. Commercial deodorants also contain parabens, phathalathes, and propylene glycol. All of the aforementioned ingredients can wreak havoc in your body and cause hormone disruption. This DIY armpit detox will detoxify the skin so that you'll be able to actually use natural deodorants without any adverse affects.

If you're thinking of switching over to a natural deodorant WITHOUT detoxifying, think again – it will not work!
