Baking soda was used in the old days for cooking and calming the occasional upset stomach. It was later found out that it is a great disinfectant and works wonders at removing excess moisture and dirt. Its a tough substance with about a hundred different uses but here's a breakdown of the most important, least talked about ones. These 4 surprising uses for baking soda will ensure you get the MOST of your baking soda and save you time and money as well!

4 Surprising Uses for Baking Soda

#1. Dry Shampoo

Since baking soda is good at soaking up extra moisture and cleans virtually anything, it works great as a dry shampoo. If your scalp gets a bit too oily or you've run out of time to go through with your full morning routine, baking soda can definitely step in. Simply sprinkle some baking soda onto your roots and brush through. You can then massage it gently into the scalp and brush your hair out a bit more to even out the product. The baking soda will remove any smells, reduce oiliness, and make hair look freshly washed!

#2. Odor Reducer

If your feet and shoes get an unbearable stench, a little powder will fix it right up. Baking soda masks odor and refreshes smelly socks and sneakers. Just put a few pinches in your shoes and let them sit over night. You can  also soak your feet in warm water with some baking soda and then scrub them using a baking soda and body wash solution. It's also a  great exfoliator and will leave your feet silky soft!

#3. Remove Stains

Wine and coffee may be our best friends but they can also be our enemies when drops land on our clothing and sheets. All you've gotta do is rinse the affected area with warm water and scrub with baking soda. Once dry, you'll notice the stain has vanished. You can even add a tablespoon  full to your whites in the laundry and it will act as a natural bleach.

#4. Reduce Razor Bumps and Burns

Since we all know this concentrate works so well with redness and  irritation on our skins, you've got to know that the same science is applicable to razor bumps and burns. Just as a simple face mask of water and baking soda will almost completely get rid of pimples and rosacea, the same goes for the uncomfortable and embarrassing redness that comes with a hairless body. Just make a little paste with the powder and water (you can also add a bit of coconut oil if you have dry skin) and gently rub it into the affected area. Once dry, wait another 2 or 3 minutes and rinse with warm water. You'll be smooth and toned in no time.
