Dandruff can be a pain in the butt, and most often, it's caused by an itchy scalp as well as an undernourished scalp (lacking moisture and hydration). If you don't take care of your scalp on a regular basis, dandruff can easily occur, but there are other dandruff culprits as well such as overuse of hair products. Thankfully, there are many homemade dandruff treatments you can try at home (and that actually work!), and these 3 are our top treatments!

#1. Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of those awesome, multi-purpose ingredients that can do SO much including getting rid of dandruff! Simply wet your hair in the shower and rub a handful of baking soda into the scalp. Massage into the scalp in slow, circular motions for about 5 minutes and rinse. Baking soda reduces overactive fungi that can cause dandruff. Your hair may get dried out at first, but after a few weeks your scalp will start producing natural oils, leaving your hair softer and free of flakes.

#2. Apple Cider Vinegar

The acidity of apple cider vinegar changes the pH of your scalp, making it harder for yeast to grow. Mix a quarter cup apple cider vinegar with a quarter cup water in a spray bottle and spritz on your scalp. Wrap your head in a towel and let sit for 15 minutes to an hour, then wash your hair as usual. Do this twice a week.

#3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the most versatile oils in the world, but it works especially well on dandruff! Before showering, massage 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil into your scalp and let sit for about an hour. Shampoo normally.
