5 DIY Hair Masks For Dry, Brittle Hair

Dry, winter hair, is a common problem, especially for people with thin, damaged hair. These 5 DIY hair masks will target the problem area by deeply nourishing the scalp, adding moisture to dry locks, and leaving hair healthy, shiny, and touchable.

5 DIY Hair Masks

#1. Strawberries + Egg Yolk + Olive Oil

  • 1 cup pureed strawberries
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tbsp olive oil

Mix all ingredients together and work into dry hair, massaging gently into the scalp. Wrap hair with a towel or a shower cap and leave on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse out with cool water, and follow up with a conditioner. Rinse conditioner out and follow up with a shampoo/conditioner combo. Use 2-3 times a week to nourish dry, brittle hair.

#2. Banana + Avocado + Coconut Oil

  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and massage into hair. Place a shower cap over hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse out and follow up with a shampoo and conditioner. Use twice a week to soften hair and add moisture.

#3. Yogurt + ACV + Lemon

Mix all ingredients together and massage gently into hair. Leave on for 5 minutes and rinse out with shampoo and conditioner. Use once a week to deep clean hair, add shine, and impart moisture.

#4. Coconut Oil + Jojoba Oil + Peppermint Essential Oil

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp jojoba oil
  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl and massage into dry hair. Leave on for about 30 minutes and rinse out with warm water. Follow up with a shampoo and conditioner.

#5. Avocado + Honey + Olive Oil

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2-3 drops lavender oil (optional)

To a food processor, add all ingredient and puree until smooth. Apply the mask to damp hair and massage gently in slow, circular motions. Cover with a shower cap or towel and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out and shampoo and condition as usual.
