Yellow, stained nails are pretty gross to look at, but unfortunately, they DO happen from time to time especially if you tend to wear a lot of darker nail polish shades. Red, black, and dark blue will most notably stain the nails, but there are also other factors that lead to stained and yellow nails such as a bad diet or not enough hydration.

Fear not though, this DIY nail scrub & stain remover will gently and safely remove nail stains and yellow hues, all while protecting your nails!

DIY Nail Scrub & Stain Remover Recipe

baking soda hydrogen peroxide lime

You'll Need:

  • 3 tbsp baking soda
  • the juice of 1/2 lemon
  • hydrogen peroxide

Directions:

nail scrub

Step 1: Prep the Nails

Before you begin, be sure to remove all nail polish. Cleanse hands with a foam cleanser and pat dry. Shape your nails and buff them using a four-way file.

Step 2: Make the Scrub!

To a small bowl, add the baking soda, the juice of half a lemon, and enough hydrogen peroxide to form a paste. Grab a toothbrush (that you're not using!) and dip it into the scrub.

Scrub your nails with the toothbrush, one by one until you've done all of them! Rinse the scrub off and pat dry.

Step 3: Moisturize

These ingredients can be drying to your hands and nails, so be sure to apply a thick moisturizer, and follow up with a cuticle oil. Check out how to make your own cuticle oil!

Repeat this once or twice a week to completely get rid of stains and yellow nails!
