Blackheads, whiteheads, dirt, and impurities are all part of our skin, and as much as we'd love for them to be gone forever and never come back, that's not really a possibility. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads at least temporarily and we'll show you exactly how!
Blackheads and whiteheads form when dirt, bacteria, and dead skin cells become clogged within the skin. Once trapped into the skin, it can be hard to get them out, but follow this guide on how to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads and we promise you'll see a difference immediately!
How to Get Rid of Blackheads and Whiteheads
There are 3 important steps on how to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads.
Step 1: Cleanse
Before you begin, make sure that your skin is totally free of makeup. Then, use a foaming cleanser to clean your face and neck. Rinse off and pat dry.
Step 2: Steam
In order for the pores to open, you'll need to do a steam facial. A steam facial opens up the pores so that the blackheads and whiteheads can easily come out. There are two ways of doing this:
- Boil some water in a pot and throw in a teabag or two of chamomile tea or green tea. Remove from heat. Grab a towel that's large enough to cover your head and place your head over the pot of steaming water. Be sure not to get TOO close to the pot – you don't want to burn your skin! Place the towel over your head and over the pot, and let the steam open up your pores for 5-10 minutes. If it gets too hot or uncomfortable, take a break!
- Grab a clean, soft washcloth and run it under hot water. Wring out the water and tamp gently over your face. Repeat this process 4-5 times. The hot water helps to open pores. This method is simply a quicker version of the first!
Step 3:
After you've steamed, be sure to pat dry. Now this is where the fun part starts! We recommend you purchase a good quality charcoal peel-off mask, OR you can easily make your own blackhead peel off mask as well!
Just be sure to use a good quality black peel-off mask – they really do wonders, they're cheap, and once you use it, you'll become addicted!
Apply all over face OR when blackheads and whiteheads are most prevalent such as chin, nose, and forehead. Let dry completely.
Slowly and carefully start to peel off the mask upwards. You may notice there are some bits and pieces that won't come off – that's ok! Just remove them with a washcloth.
Once you've removed the peel-off mask, you'll be shocked at how many blackheads, whiteheads, and impurities have come off!
Step 4: Close Pores
Lastly, you'll want to close the pores by washing your face with very cold water. If your tap water isn't super cold, simply fill a bowl with water and add some ice cubes. Pat dry.
Follow up with a natural toner.
Repeat this process once or twice a week!
