If you suffer from acne prone skin, let us introduce you to 6 foods that will clear up acne in a pinch! Now everyone has different types of acne, some more severe than others, so it's always best to consult with your dermatologist (especially if you have severe acne), before commencing any new regimen. That being said, these 6 foods are all natural and we'll only be applying them topically, so for the most part, this is a completely safe method to clear up your acne.

6 Foods To Get Rid Of Acne

#1. Lemons

Lemons are natural disinfectants and because they are high in acid, can treat acne right at the source by killing microbes and bacteria. Lemons are also a natural bleaching agent, so while they help fight acne, they also lighten acne scars and dark spots too! Simply rub a lemon onto problem areas once a day before bed. Rinse off in the morning and follow up with a moisturizer. Please note that if you have sever acne and/or open wounds, the lemon treatment may sting.

#2. Carrot Juice

Carrots are high in vitamin A which is crucial to healthy skin! Vitamin A produces collagen and encourages healthy cell growth, therefore carrot juice applied directly to the skin will give it a huge vitamin A boost that your skin will soak right up! Juice a carrot and using a cotton pad, apply all over face and neck every morning and night on clean skin. You should see a difference within 1 week! Consuming carrots also helps!

#3. Papaya

Papaya is full of healthy enzymes and vitamins that your skin absolutely loves! Loaded with the enzyme papaian and a ton of vitamin A, papaya wil make your acne disappear and your skin glow like nothing else! It will also exfoliate your skin, breaking down inactive proteins and eliminating dead skin cells. Mash a papaya and apply all over a clean face and neck. Leave on for 20-30 minutes and rinse off. Repeat 2-3 times a week for optimal results.

#4. Eggs

egg whites

Eggs are packed with protein and albumin which help tighten and tone the skin. On top of that, eggs are an excellent way to control oily skin as they help tighten pores that secrete too much sebum. In turn, your skin will produce a lot less breakouts since there is a lot less oil being produced. Apply one egg white to entire face and neck and leave on for 15-20 minutes or until tight on face. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Repeat 1-2 times a week.

#5. Honey

I'm sure you know already that honey is a crucial food to combating acne, but we just can't leave it out! A good quality honey can clear up acne better than anything else! Honey is a strong antibacterial, therefore it's an amazing acne treatment. Apply directly to affected area and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off and pat dry. #6. Turmeric

Last but not least, we have turmeric, which is one of the most powerful food acne treatments out there! Turmeric reduces sebum production, which is the main cause of acne. In doing so, it stops acne in its tracks and also reduces inflammation. On top of that, turmeric also erases acne scars. Mix a small amount of turmeric powder with either water, lemon juice, or even honey (the choice is yours – see what works best for you!) until a paste forms. Apply to a clean face and neck and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Repeat 1-2 times a week for best results!

You can choose to go with a certain food to fight your acne, or you can try them all –  a different once each day! But the most important thing to remember when it comes to treating acne is to never give up! It may take some time, and it may become extremely frustrating, but never give up on your skin care routine! Set up a time every week for your face masks and be consistent! Apply that lemon juice or carrot juice to your skin every night!
