DIY Sugar Wax Hair Removal

By Aniela / April 27, 2016

After trying countless different hair removal systems, I've come to the conclusion that there really is no better way than sugaring. Sugaring was invented thousands of years ago, and was used by Cleopatra herself, because unlike other hair removal methods, sugaring is not only the safest, but also the cheapest, fastest, easiest, and healthiest way to remove hair. Sugaring is also called Parisian wax or Arabic wax (because the more you know!)

So why go out and spend your hard earned money on razors that don't last, wax strips that hurt, or salon trips that dig into your wallet when you can make your very own sugar wax right at home. All you need is just three ingredients: sugar, water, and lemon juice or vinegar! So let's cut to the chase and let me show you how to this DIY sugar wax hair removal can save you time, money, AND your skin!

DIY Sugar Wax Hair Removal Recipe

Apart from being a better hair removal method overall, sugar waxing is also much gentler on your skin than regular waxing. It also lasts much longer than shaving (obviously), and it's shockingly easy to do!

Ingredients:

1 cup white or brown sugar

2 tbsp water

1.5 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar

1 tsp salt (optional)

Directions:

sugar wax

sugaring

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer on low heat. Allow the mixture to thicken until it turns golden brown. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon to make sure all the sugar crystals have dissolved. Within eight minutes, the mixture will thicken considerably and will turn into a syrup-like consistency.

As the mixture turns a darker brown, remove your pot from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Scoop it up with your hands and roll it between your palms. Then, stretch it out so that it looks like a wax strip and start waxing away. Remember, always pull in the opposite direction of hair growth.

You can keep reusing this over and over again. When you're done for the day, simply put your wax in a ziploc bag in the fridge. When you're ready to use it again, just pop it in the microwave for 10 minutes (remove from plastic bag before!).

And there you have it! Smooth, sexy, touchable legs within a pinch and using ingredients you have around the house! What could be easier?
