I don't know what it is about homemade beauty products, but I think I might actually be obsessed. From dry shampoos to face masks, I've tackled almost every beauty arsenal you could think of right in my kitchen. And why not? It's fun, it's cheap, and best of all – it's all natural. Basically, when you make your own stuff – you know what goes in it! Just like you cook your own food at home (for the most part) to stay healthy, you should also make your own beauty products at home – your skin, hair, and nails will thank you later!
Anyway, I've stumbled upon a homemade margarita salt scrub and I was dying to try it! Of course, I wasted NO time in doing so, and found that OMG I'm in love with this stuff! Of course, this might have something to do with the fact that I'm a HUGE margarita fan, but nevertheless, this stuff is good! I mean, it smells amazing, so you'll want to slather it on your skin all day. But obviously just once a week is all you need!
So let's do this!
Homemade Margarita Salt Scrub: A DIY Project
- 1 cup fine sea salt
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- Juice of 2 limes
- A few drops of organic lemon essential oil
- 1-2 tablespoons of tequila, which is an antiseptic
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and stir. You can play around with the consistency and add more salt and/or oil, depending on what kind of scrub you are looking for.
How To Use:
First, wet your skin in the shower. Then, scoop up a small amount of the scrub into your hands. Gently and in circular motions, rub the scrub into your skin, focusing on tough skin such as knees, elbows, and bottom of the feet. Rinse off and follow up with a lotion. Remember, you only need to do this once a week. Exfoliating too much can cause red skin and irritation.
