4 Things You Should Be Doing Right After Your Shower

You may think that once you've exited the shower you're all done, but the truth of the matter is that you're not even close! Ok, that sounded a little harsh, but what you do with your skin AFTER getting out of the shower is actually pretty crucial. This is when your skin is at its cleanest (hopefully), but also when your pores are open and can absorb the most moisture. So it's very important that at this time, you take good care of your skin and give it all the nutrients it needs. So here are 4 things you should be doing right after you shower.

What You Should Be Doing Right After Your Shower

#1. Moisturizing

I cannot stress this enough because not enough people do it! It only takes a minute, but your skin will definitely thank you for it! The hot water and scrubbing can leave your skin dry, but applying a thick body butter (click here to find out how you can make your own!) will add tons of moisture without leaving your skin greasy.

#2. Patting Your Skin Dry

When you get out of the shower, never RUB your skin dry with a towel – instead, PAT it dry. Rubbing your skin with a towel will only stress your skin and get it really dry. So even though you may be in a rush, patting your skin dry instead of rubbing it dry, will only take you an extra 10 seconds – try it out and see for yourself!

#3. Applying Your Serums

Because your pores open after a warm shower, this is the best time to apply product to your skin since it absorbs everything very quickly. So give your face a little TLC by applying your favorite serums, oils, or creams. Click here to see how you can make your own vitamin C serum!

#4. Applying a Leave-in Conditioner or Detangler

Are you one of those people who just throw their wet hair in a towel after a shower? This may be contributing to your dry, frizzy, and split end ridden hair. Instead, spray on a leave-in conditioner or detangler post shower and comb (NOT brush) through with a wide-tooth comb. This will prevent split ends and dryness and you'll soon notice a big difference!

So now that you've learned the ABCD's of the post-shower, you're ready to conquer the world! Ok, maybe not – but at least it's a small step you can be proud of!
