I'm sure you're all well aware of the very important, yet sometimes ignored, skin care advice: “remove your makeup before bed!”. While that is absolutely true, a lot of us are just too tired to do that at the end of the night, but do you know the harm you're causing your skin? Let's just say it definitely isn't minimal! Something as simple as removing your makeup before bed isn't the only thing you should be doing though! Today we'll show you how to get better skin and the 7 things you should always do before bedtime. Sure, we may not all have the time, or we're too lazy, or we're just plain tired. But believe us when we say that if you do these 9 things before bed for just one week, you'll be amazed at the results!
How to Get Better Skin
To make it easier for you, we've written down these rules in the order that you should do them! So start off with #1 and finish off with #7!
#1. Always Remove Your Makeup
Before you even wash your face, it's very important that you remove all traces of makeup. If you have oily skin, choose a liquid makeup remover. If you have dry to normal skin, choose an oil-based makeup remover.
#2. Wash Your Face
Wash your face with a foaming cleanser every night before bed. It will remover any left-over makeup and dirt, leaving your skin fresh and clean. Choose a face wash based on your skin type. Pat skin dry.
#3. Use a Toner/Astringent
Especially if you have oily or acne prone skin, you should always use a toner/astringent before bed. A toner will balance the skin pH, and also helps with acne scars and dark spots. Check out this DIY lemon & witch hazel brightening toner.
#4. Moisturize
Depending on your skin type as well as the climate, choose a moisturizer that fits both. If you have dry skin, choose a thicker moisturizer, but if you have oily skin, choose a lighter one. Apply the moisturizer from the neck up, “lifting” the skin as you rub it in.
#5. Apply a Serum
One of THE most important steps is to apply a good quality serum. We highly suggest a hyaluronic acid serum which targets fine lines and wrinkles by repairing the skin and filling in lines. Apply around the eyes, forehead, and mouth where wrinkles are most prevalent.
#6. Spot Treat
If you have any blemishes, now is the time to apply a spot treatment. Simply dab directly onto the blemished area and leave on overnight. Make sure to wait before the serum dries to apply.
#7. Put on and Eye Mask and Get Some Zzzs
Last but not least, slip on an eye mask and make sure to get a good night's rest. An eye mask is one of the best things you can to to prevent wrinkles, fine lines, and puffiness around the eyes.
Although these 7 steps may seem like they would take a while, it should only take 2-3 minutes top. But these 2-3 minutes ensure that you'll have perfect, glowing, and younger looking skin. Keep up with these “how to get better skin” rules and within just a few days, you'll notice a huge difference!
