#1. The Cold Spoon Trick
Had a long, sleepless night? Fix those large bags by placing a spoon in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Take the spoon out, and place the back of the spoon right under your eyes for 30 seconds intervals. It may feel cold at first, but you'll immediately notice less baggage. The coldness of the spoon constricts blood vessels, while the pressure of the spoon enhances lymphatic drainage of excess fluids. The result? Rested looking eyes in under 2 minutes!
#2. The Chipped Nails Trick
If you're in a rush and simply have NO time to redo your nails, there's a super quick fix for that. Simply apply some glitter polish onto the chipped part of the nails. Glitter polish dries very quickly and no one will be the wiser!
#3. The Lipstick Trick
If you're always getting lipstick on your teeth, there's a super quick fix for that! First, wash your hands well with soap and water. Then, stick your index finger into your mouth (right down the middle), and take it out. And voila, just like that, your lipstick will not go anywhere near those pearly whites!
#4. The Hair Static Trick
Staticky hair got you frazzled? Rub a dryer sheet all over your hair to quickly fix static. You can also push a dryer sheet onto the bristles of your brush and just brush away! Who knew this would work?! But it really does! Once the static is gone, spray a little bit of light hairspray to keep flyaways at bay!
#5. The Makeup Remover Trick
Ran out of makeup remover? There are SO many alternatives you can use that are already in your home. Not only are most of these gentler and better for your skin, but you'll also be saving a ton of money. Use olive oil, almond oil, hempseed oil, grapeseed oil, or sunflower seed oil to remove all traces of makeup. Works like a charm every time!
#6. The Cuticle Saving Trick
If those cuticles are looking less than stellar and you don't have much time, use an old lip balm! Simply rub the lip balm onto your cuticles as many times a day as you want (the more, the better). It will soften and moisturize in a pinch. But please, do not use that lip balm on your lips anymore!
#7. The Ice Water Trick
Just like the cold spoon trick, the ice water trick is meant to help constrict blood vessels which will de-puff the skin. Fill a bowl with ice and water and rinse your face (or dip your face completely into the bowl for a few seconds). The coldness of the water will reduce puffiness, shrink pores, reduce inflammation, and seriously wake you up!
#8. The DIY Body Scrub Trick
Stop spending your hard earned money on commercial body scrubs. They're often filled with unnecessary ingredients that are bad for your skin. Instead, you can quickly and easily make your own body scrub by combining 80% sugar with 20% oil. For example, mix brown sugar with olive oil, and you have a ready-to-use sugar scrub. Sugar scrubs are more gentle and therefore intended for more sensitive body parts. Alternatively, you can make salt scrubs (80% salt, 20% oil) to slough off dead skin cells from rougher areas such as knees, feet, and shoulders.
#9. The Coffee Filter Trick
If you have oily skin and are constantly blotting, grab a coffee filter and blot away. Even better, cut the coffee filter in smaller parts and pack them in a clean Ziploc baggie. Throw that in your purse, and you're always good to go! Coffee filters are made out of a similar material as face blotters, but are MUCH MUCH cheaper and do just as good a job!
#10. The Sea Salt Trick
Sea salt has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a great ingredient to use on breakouts. Simply mix a teaspoon of sea salt with enough water to form a paste. Cover the pimple with the mixture and allow to dry completely.
#11. The Satin Pillowcase Trick
If your hair gets easily tangled or frizzy, think about switching a satin pillowcase. The satin will help keep hair nice and smooth, ensuring you don't wake up with a bird nest in your hair. Bonus: satin pillowcases are also good for your skin!
#12. The Tomato Trick
Tomatoes are packed full of really good nutrients that can be amazing for your skin, especially if you have oily and acne prone skin. Simply cut a slice of tomato and rub it directly onto clean skin. It helps with inflammation, excess oil, breakouts, and scars. Pro Tip: cover the tomato slice in salt or sugar and rub onto the skin. The salt will act as a scrub, giving you deeper exfoliation.
#13. The Cotton Swab Trick
Cotton swabs are super useful to have as a beauty arsenal, because they can do a multitude of things. Use a cotton swab dipped in your favorite makeup remover or using olive oil to fix quick makeup mishaps. Or, dip a cotton swab into nail polish remover to clean up any nail polish messes!
#14. The Hair Mask Trick
If your hair is looking a little drab and lacking some moisture, make an at home hair mask in a pinch. If you've got a ripe avocado laying around, mash that up and mix in some olive oil or sunflower oil (any oil you have will do). Massage that into the hair and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out and shampoo and condition as usual. The fats in the avocado and oil will nourish the hair, leaving it softer and hydrated.
#15. The Mascara Trick
If you're one of those people that always get mascara on your eyelids, not to worry – we've got a simple trick for that! Grab a spoon (and again, the humble spoon comes to the rescue) and hold it against your eyelid as you apply your mascara. Crises avoided!
#16. The Baby Powder Trick
Out of dry shampoo? Baby powder can come in really handy! Just sprinkle a little bit of baby powder directly onto your roots and massage well. It will absorb the excess oils, leaving your hair looking like you JUST washed it!
#17. The Quick Beach Waves Trick
If you're looking for quick beach waves, look no further than this trick! Make two or four braids and run a flat iron over each braid. You may have to go over each braid several times, but the whole thing takes minutes. Undo the braids, and ta-da – instant beach waves!
#18. The Baking Soda Trick
If you've got a big event coming up, this baking soda and hydrogen peroxide mix can make your whites even whiter in a matter of weeks! Mix 1 tsp baking soda with 1 tsp of hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of toothpaste. Apply to your toothbrush and brush for 2 minutes. Use it every day for 3-4 days, and then use only once a week. Don't forget to take a before and after pic to really see the results!
#19. The Lip Scrub Trick
Looking for a quick and easy lip scrub trick? Grab a clean (unused) mascara wand and dip it into Vaseline. Scrub your lips, going back and forth. The mascara wand will exfoliate the lips, while the Vaseline will hydrate, leaving them soft and shiny. Alternatively, you can also make a sugar lip scrub by combining 80% sugar with 20% oil.
#20. The Quick Dry Nail Polish Trick
No one wants to wait around for hours for their nail polish to dry, and that's why this trick is a favorite! Fill a bowl with ice and water and after having painted your nails, dip your hands in the ice water for a few minutes. It won't feel pleasant, but it'll save you a whole lot of time!
