If you’ve ever used ice on your face, it was probably to diminish a pimple, right? Well as it turns out, applying ice to the skin has a LOT more benefits than just reducing a pimple. The incredible benefits of skin icing work on any skin type and I highly encourage everyone to try it if you haven’t already!
Skin Icing Benefits
Applying ice to the skin increases blood circulation. Cold constricts the blood vessels so that less blood goes to the surface of the skin. This results in reduced inflammation and swelling.
Skin icing unclogs pores that are filled with oil and sebum, and therefore shrinks and tightens them. You are left with super smooth, healthy skin!
Reduce Dark Circles and Puffiness
Because skin icing reduces inflammation and swelling, it’s also a great way to reduce dark circles and puffiness!
Because blemishes are essentially infected inflammations, icing the skin will greatly reduce that as well as soothe an irritation. Hold an ice cube to a pimple for 30 seconds to 1 minute to reduce its size.
Because skin icing improves circulation, it also helps with the appearance of wrinkles. Rub an ice cube around the eyes, mouth, and forehead every morning for a few seconds and you’ll soon notice a difference!
How to Ice
- Grab 4-5 ice cubes and wrap them in a thin cloth.
- Rub over your face in slow, circular motions as if you were giving yourself a massage.
- Go around the eyes and down your neck.
- Do this for 2-3 minutes every morning for a brighter, clearer complexion.
