DIY Vitamin C Serum

By Aniela / May 27, 2015

A few weeks ago, I told you guys about my absolute FAVE serum in the world, Oz Naturals Vit C Serum. Now, I'll tell you how you can make your OWN serum. Because let's face it – all these beauty creams add up and they can get quite expensive. So I decided to try my hand at making my own, and after a ton of research, I think I've found one I'm happy with. You only need a few ingredients which are already very cheap and this stuff will last you for quite some time! This DIY vitamin C serum is also way better for your skin than the store bought stuff since it doesn't contain any chemicals or preservatives.

DIY Vitamin C Serum

You'll Need:

1/2 tsp natural vitamin C powder

1 tbsp distilled water OR 1 tsp distilled water to dissolve and 2 tbsp vegetable glycerine

a dark colored container to store your serum (Vitamin C oxidises easily)

Directions:

Dissolve the vitamin C powder in the water. If you are only using water, then you're done. Store your mixture in a dark container and it'll keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

If you're using the glycerine, dissolve your vitamin C in the 1 tsp of distilled water, then stir in the glycerine. The serum with the glycerine will last a month or longer in the fridge.

What's the Difference Between Using Just Water or Using Glycerine?

There are two main differences:

  1. The glycerine will make your potion last a long longer
  2. The glycerine will deliver a softer, smoother finish

Benefits of the Vitamin C Serum

  • Great for wrinkles and/or fine lines
  • Softens skin
  • Evens skin tone
  • Gets rid of dark spots
  • Brightens and tightens skin

Now that you're ready to make your own serum, what are you waiting for? Don't forget to share:)
