How to Apply Concealer Like a Pro

By Aniela / September 8, 2016

When it comes to concealer, a lot of people seem to be confused – and they have a right to! With thousands of different guides all over the Internet and in magazines, as well as the crazy world of contouring, it's no wonder people are feeling a little lost and discouraged. So while you're here, forget all about that contouring stuff unless you're trying to become someone else…physically! Contouring is for Youtube beauty bloggers and celebrities when they're on the red carpet – normal people just don't have time for that stuff OR even want to apply a thousand layers of makeup. That said, all you really need is concealer and I'll show you how to apply concealer like a pro!

First, take a good look at the image above. Then, study your own face to see where you might have darker spots, acne scars, or pimples. Those are the spots you'll want to cover with concealer. Now there are different types of concealer from liquid, to roll-on, and cream. This is totally up to you – whatever you feel comfortable using! I prefer liquid or roll-on, but the cream is a much heavier consistency and therefore very good at concealing fine lines and wrinkles.

Start off with a clean and moisturized face. You can apply a primer if you want, but it's not necessary. Apply a thin layer of concealer under your eyes forming a V shape (see image below).

Then, apply concealer around the corners of your mouth, as shown in the first picture above. Finish off by dotting concealer on any dark spots, pimples, or scars. Then, using your finger, a brush, or a beauty blender, blend the concealer in. Then, apply your favorite foundation (if you feel you need it) or a loose powder. Finish off with your regular routine of blush or bronzer and voila! Do it like the pros and you'll see a big difference!
